John Madondo serves as the CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Massachusetts. His passion has always been in working with and providing services to older adults, people with disabilities and complex medical problems, and people who are in underserved populations.

John currently leads a health plan that provides services to Dual eligible populations in Massachusetts. The Senior Care Options program provides integrated managed care to people 65 and older who qualify for Medicare and Medicaid. The One Care Program is a Managed Medicaid Program (MMP) that provide managed care for those aged 21 through 64 who are eligible for Medicare and Medicaid due to a disability. 

John has over 25 years of leadership and clinical experience working with chronically ill or disabled populations. As a registered nurse he started working in nursing facilities and later worked in multiple acute care facilities in the Middle Tennessee region, providing bed side care in medical surgical units, intensive care units and mental health units. After he graduated as a Nurse Practitioner, he worked in primary care clinics and later provided care to elderly and disabled people in their homes and in Skilled Nursing facilities (SNF). In the early 2000s, John co-founded a home care organization, Warm Hearts Care, and later co-founded another nonprofit organization, Tennessee Personal Assistance Inc. Both companies provided custodial home care as well as skilled nursing for people with physical and intellectual disabilities as well as geriatric patients who needed care in their homes. In 2011, he co-founded an independently run nurse practitioner primary care clinic, Nurse Practitioner Associates (NPA) in Antioch, TN that provided primary care to all populations, but primarily to an under-served community.

As of 2015, he joined UnitedHealthcare community plan of Tennessee first as the Vice President of Health services over the UHC CHOICES program, a Medicaid Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) program that provides support for eligible elderly and physically disabled Medicaid enrollees who are in Nursing facilities and those that choose to receive their LTSS in home and community-based settings. He later assumed the role of Executive Director of LTSS in January of 2018 and had leadership responsibilities for two LTSS programs in TN, and the Dual Special Needs Plan. In August of 2021, John took the role of CEO for the UHC Community Plan of Massachusetts overseeing the Senior Care Options and One Care Programs.

John has worked for many years to improve healthcare and close healthcare gaps for those who are underprivileged. John holds both a bachelor’s and master’s Degree in Nursing from Tennessee State University.
